Day 1 — Monday, February 1, 2027

Venue: Kolkata Center for Creativity

Morning Sessions

  • Introductions & Keynotes: Water museums, wetlands, and the arts in South Asia

  • Case Study: East Kolkata Wetlands as a potential eco-museum

  • Discussion: Water & Arts as Civic Memory in Urban Waterscapes

Afternoon Sessions

  • Panel 1: Decolonising Water Heritage – Art as inclusive museum practice (case studies from Bangladesh & regional partners)

  • Panel 2: Women, Water and Work in Urbanising Wetlands (session lead: SaciWaters / LWM)

  • Debate: Climate Adaptation vs. Urban Expansion – Wetlands as buffers or growth sites?

Evening Activities (After 4 PM)

  • Walk 1: Guided wetlands walk exploring the East Kolkata Wetlands ecosystem

  • Networking Dinner​​

Day 2 — Tuesday, February 2, 2027 (World Wetlands Day)

Venue: Bengal Paddle

Morning Sessions

  • Panel 3: Mapping Wetlands (Wipro Foundation)

  • Panel 4: Wetlands in Schools and Homes – Co-led by youth and children from wetlands/climate networks

Afternoon Sessions

  • Breakout Groups: Pathways for collaboration – science, society, wetlands, culture & arts

  • Plenary: Resolutions, way forward, next steps

Evening Activities (After 4 PM)

  • Evening sail on the Hooghly, overviewing the Ghats of Kolkata

  • Water Café in association with the River Festival – collaborative dialogue on museums, arts & water governance, followed by performance

Day 3 — Wednesday, February 3, 2027
(Optional Field Trip- on additional registration)

Destination: Jhore Jole Jongole, Sundarbans (in association with Techno India College)

Morning

  • 9:00 AM: Departure by bus from Kolkata

  • Arrival & hotel check-in

Afternoon

  • 1:00 PM: Lunch

  • 2:30–5:00 PM: Roaming Jhorkhali – visits to Tiger Hospital, Crocodile & Mangrove Research Center

  • 5:00–7:00 PM: Evening tea + Focus Group Discussions with Dr. Kanai Lal Das and community members on life & work in the Sundarbans

Evening

  • 7:30 PM: Dinner

  • Local community performance (Bonbibir Pala – traditional storytelling theatre)

Day 4 — Thursday, February 4, 2027

Morning

  • 8:00 AM: Breakfast

  • 8:30 AM: Forest tour on 50-seater troller – covering 5–6 islands and watchtowers

Afternoon

  • 1:30 PM: Lunch at Techno India-supported Vivekananda Adarsho Bidyalay & Sundarban Research and Development Council

  • Walk & talk with Sundarban community and children – immersion into village life

Late Afternoon & Evening

  • 3:30 PM: Return by boat to Jhorkhali

  • 5:00 PM: Relaxed evening tea + discussion on major takeaways and future planning

  • 7:30 PM: Mega Closing Dinner –closing meeting with reflections on future collaborations

Day 5 — Friday, February 5, 2027

Morning

  • 8:00 AM: Breakfast

  • 9:00 AM: Departure options: 

    • Return to Kolkata (arrival late morning/early afternoon)

    • Optional extended stay for informal networking and local exploration

Note:

Travel Options for Participants At the conclusion of Day 4 (Thursday, February 4, 2027), participants will have the flexibility to either:

  • Depart for Kolkata the same evening (leaving Jhorkhali after evening tea and arriving in Kolkata late at night), or

  • Stay overnight in Jhorkhali and return to Kolkata the following morning after breakfast on Day 5 (Friday, February 5, 2027).
